Cava Building Supply was founded in 1971 as “Cava Stone and Marble” in South Philadelphia. At this time the local contractors were busy at work restoring and replacing the brick facades of homes in the local area. Limestone window sills, headers and step treads were used in the facades to add design, while marble window sills would be used in the interior to give it that rich look. Cava Stone and Marble would take raw limestone and marble slabs, cut them to size and finish them to meet the specifications of their customers. Most of their orders were filled in one day and the word spread.

In order to better serve their customers Cava added a full line of building supplies to its list of products in 1975. Cava wanted to better serve their customers by having all the materials that they needed at one location with the option of having them delivered if necessary. So Cava purchased their first of many delivery trucks.

As the years passed Cava grew and so did the needs of their customers. Cava focused on becoming a full line masonry supply yard. Their product line expanded and they were now able to offer their customers a wider selection of products. In 1996 a new office/showroom was built to better serve their customers and “Cava Stone and Marble” officially became “Cava Building Supply Co.”. Although many things have changed over the years we will never forget the philosophy in which our business was founded on, “That every customer is important and no job is to small”.
