When choosing a contractor, it is important to know some information about their experience, professionalism and recent projects. Below is a list of questions you should consider asking before hiring a contractor:
- How many years has the company been around?
- How often do they do the type of work you are asking them to do?
- Ask for atleast three recent references.
- Ask to inspect these referenced jobs.
- Ask about liability insurance. Make sure they have it.
- Ask about worker's compensation insurance. Make sure all of the workers who will be at your site are insured by the company.
- Ask for an itemized list of procedures, charges and timelines. Make sure that the start and completion date are clearly available.
- Do they have a guarantee? What is the length?
- Will they return to inspect their work in 6 months? 1 year?
After finding a contractor who is able to answer your questions and provide sufficient answers, you are ready to begin your project. Below is a list of some of the contractors we reccommend. We suggest that you ask these contractors the same questions.
